Toy Shopping in Tokyo, Japan - Part 3 : Chuggington Shop

This is the second part of our series on Toy Shopping in Tokyo.

We've been looking for anything Chuggington for quite a while - be it a shop, theme park or any other kind of attraction.  The closest we could find was the the Chuggington Live! in Singapore.  Aside from that, we couldn't find anything else.

To our pleasant surprise though, as we were walking around Odaiba, Minato in Japan, we chanced upon a poster of the Chuggington Shop in Fuji TV building!  We didn't even know there was one, despite our Google searches.  So, we happily made our way to the 7th Floor and were greeted immediately greeted with Vee at the entrance!

Toy Shopping in Tokyo, Japan - Part 2 : Plarail Shop

This is the second part of our series on Toy Shopping in Tokyo.

After our visit to Tomica Shop, our next stop was Plarail Shop right next to it.  Tomica and Plarail are both made by Takara Tomy so it's no surprise they're right next to each other.  They actually even have playsets that let you connect them to each other via railroad crossings.

Toy Shopping in Tokyo, Japan - Part 1 : Tomica Shop

We went toy shopping in Tokyo Japan recently, and what best to buy in Japan but Japanese branded toys!  One of the mainstream brands of toys, of course, is Takara Tomy - the makers of the Tomica and Plarail lines.

Train stations in Tokyo feature some of the most interesting malls with all kinds of shops and restaurants. One of these malls is First Avenue in Tokyo Station.  This malls has lots of specialty shops including the Pokemon Store, Tomica Shop, Plarail Shop, Ultraman World, Tamagotchi Store, Hello Kitty Shop and a whole lot of others.

This is the 3rd instalment of our series on Hong Kong Toy Shopping.  Make sure to check out Part 1 and Part 2 also for more tips on where to go toy hunting.

After Komodo Kidz and Tai Yuen, our next stop is In's Point in Yau Ma Tei, Mong Kok.  In's Point is a haven for LEGO lovers!  While some stores also sell anime and collectible stuff, as well as a few Tomicas,  the real reason to visit this place if for LEGO.  The building has 2 whole floors of nothing but toy stores, most of them selling LEGO.  Aside from the vast selection of minifigs and sets, their prices are also one of the lowest we've seen in the region.  While the best prices for LEGO still seems to be in the US, some sellers come pretty close.  Sets here are 20% - 30% cheaper than chain stores in Hong Kong like Toy R Us.  Compared to the Philippines or Singapore, LEGO sets here are cheaper by 40%-50%!  If you're buying several sets, or large (expensive) ones, the price difference may actually be enough to cover your airfare!

Toy Shopping in Hong Kong - Part 2 : Tai Yuen Street, Wan Chai

This is part 2 of our post on Hong Kong Toy Shopping.

Our next stop after Komodo Kidz in Wong Chuk Hang was Tai Yuen Street in Wan Chai (Hong Kong Island).  This is referred to as the toy street of Hong Kong.  It's not exactly an entire street of toy stores as the name suggests, but there's definitely more than enough toy stores here.

Getting to Tai Yuen is very easy.  Via MTR, just get off at the Wan Chai station, take the A3 exit and walk towards Johnston Road.  Tai Yuen intersects Johnston Road, just a couple of minutes walk from the MTR station.  The first few stores to the left and right, coming from Johnston Road, are all toy stores.

Toy Shopping in Hong Kong - Part 1 : Komodo Kidz, Wong Chuk Hang, Aberdeen

If you're in Hong Kong and plan to do some toy shopping for babies or toddlers, this is definitely one stop you need to make.

Komodo Kidz has a limited range of toys, mostly just for babies and toddlers, but everything they have is ON SALE.  Their popular lines include Chuggington, Thomas and Friends (Wooden Railway sets), Lamaze, ThinkFun, ALEX, the First Years and some others.  Komodo Kidz is the licensed distributor of these brands in Hong Kong.  If any of their brands interest you (or your kids), then the trip to their shop (more like an office) is worth the hassle.
